FAQ's
Q- Is this a scam?
A- Everyone's first question. No! You won't send us a check or wire any money. Once you have contacted us, we will send you a packet of info, with contract clearly outlining your position. You will then provide us with a promissory note for your investment. At the appropriate time we will request your investment be placed in an escrow account. BAM...you're an EP!
Q- What if the movie never gets off the ground?
A- Your money will not be requested until we have an adequate amount of funds to green light the project. However, if for some reason production derails, your money will be return to you, as spelled out in the contract memo.
Q-Will I make a lot of money?
A- Yes, no, maybe. BBP cannot guaranty such a thing, however, it is likely that everyone will profit. How? Firstly, we will be shooting in a state where will will be getting 15%-20% tax credit. We are in negotiation to recoup 5% in brand product placement. Additionally, we are negotiating foreign pre-sales at 20%. All this means is that approximately $450 of your initial investment goes back into your pocket before the movie even hits the shelves. After first cycle domestic distribution you should have recouped 94% of your initial investment; that's $940.
Q- What percentage of the net profit will I get?
A- 0.067% for each $1000 invested. If you invest $2000, you will receive 0.134%, $10k- 0.67% and so on. Net profit shared will not be realized until 100% recoupment has been made, in other words everybody makes their initial investment back before any profit splits.
Q- That sounds like I won't make any money at all?
A- For every $100,000 net profit the movie makes, you profit $67 (for each $1k invested). If the movie makes $1 million, you profit $670, not bad huh? In financial terms that would be a 167% rate of return (IRR) or 67% Return on investment (ROI). Imagine what you would make on a $10k investment.
Q- How will I know the books aren't going to be cooked.
A- BBP will use Bank of America as an exhibitor depository and use an open system. Reports can be requested by EP's to follow the films financial progress.
Q- How long will I receive royalties?
A- As long as people continue to rent the movie and exhibitors buy new copies. It can go on for 20 years or better. You never relinquish your rights to the movie unless specified in an agreement between you and the producers or the business memo.
Q- Will I get any say creatively?
A- Unfortunately we can not allow each EP to have a say in the movie, it would be a disaster and ultimately be unprofitable.
Q- Can I come on set?
A- BBP will try to make arrangements for visits at the expense of the EP, however this would be on a case by case basis and at the behest of the producers. Filming schedules are tight and have very little room for distraction.
Q- I am a writer/director/crew member ect...can I work on the film?
A- Don't count on it, however you will be in a unique position to submit to us some of your ideas, resumes', scripts, and have coverage at the very least. In some rare cases you might be asked to participate in some capacity in the film if you are an exceptional talent.
